Asbj\u00f8rn Mohr Drewes defended his Ph.D. thesis at\u00a0Aalborg University\u00a0in 1998 and his doctoral thesis (D.M.Sc) at\u00a0Aarhus University\u00a0in 1999. He is currently the director of the research group\u00a0Mech-Sense.<\/p>\n

In the course of his career, Asbj\u00f8rn Mohr Drewes has received awards from the\u00a0Danish Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology\u00a0(DSGH) and the\u00a0Danish Association of Rehabilitation Medicine. He is member of the SIGE (Italian Society of Gastroenterology) governing board, of the UEG (United European Gastroenterology) Research Board and of the UEG Young Talent Group. He was among the course directors of the UEG Basic Science Course on gut microbiota. He is associate editor of the Human Microbiome Journal (Elsevier).<\/div>\n

He completed his training in Gastroenterology in the Soroka Medical Center, Beer-Sheva, Israel, and worked there as a senior gastroenterologist, specializing in functional disorders of the GI tract, until his recent retirement in 2009.
